Search for a way to increase the size of the history group...

     Topics brought up:

1. Ways in which to attract more attendees to these planning meetings
  • Park Board Members attend and also bring with themselves historically minded citizens who have historical knowledge of this booming metropolis we live in.
  • Invite long time citizens  Bernadine Harrison, Howard Erickson and or his wife Judy, and Bill Hollingsworth.
  • Ask city to post the meeting dates on the electronic reader board at the Police Station
  • Submit notice to the Weekly Auburn Reporter Newspaper for notice to be included in the Events column.
  • Post a notice on the City Facebook Page.
2. How many signs will be installed was a question brought up.  Mark stated that the gotopacific.org.history web site is only half completed with about a hundred pages submitted so far and then when all that is needed is gathered, the weeding out process begins.
 3.  Paula might ask Wanda in city hall to research 1970's building permits for remaining early settlers.
4.Topic of acquiring a college student intern to peruse the city files for historical etc.
 5. Subject of the present floodplain maps was brought up and Paula said that the these go back to 1985 and need to be updated.

Added note by Jim Meier...

On November 30th,  I talked with Howard Erickson about this history project and attending a meeting but he was not very interested.  He then summoned his wife who said she is and would like to become a park board member and will submit her application with the city for this.

I am still pursuing Clint Steiger for info and facts.   Bernadine is next and then maybe that psychic who has a practice on Auburn Way near the library.

Next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 5th,  2017.        Adjourned at 8 pm.
