City of Pacific Historical Subcommittee Meeting,  August 1st, 2017.


Volunteers in attendance and the subjects they chose to research:

Mark Bowns:   Chairman, website organizer and Transportation

Don Blackwell: Native People and Local Pioneers, Historical Places, and Transportation

Kate Hull-Pease:   Flood Control, Industry, and Agriculture

Geology:  Jim Meier

Jean Fancher: Flora and Fauna, and Maps


  1. Kate said that she has connections to someone at the White River Museum in Auburn whom she will invite to one of our meetings to see if she can vollenteer her time in helping us with whatever we locally need.
  2. Kate also has contact with the  assistant to the director of the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle will pursue persuading her to help us but we must have a concrete agenda of questions to present.
  3. Don will get in touch with someone at the Muckleshoot Indian Cultural Department 
  4. It was suggested that the Washington State Digitalized Archives is a good research resource.
  5. Possibility of a city backed Historical Commission further down the road was agreed upon.
  6. Requesting that a notice in the city newsletter was brought up to attract more attendees to our meetings, especially elderly longtime residences who have undocumented items that would be useful.
  7. Ask Tren Walker if he is still participating with us and also invite Bernadine Harrison who grew up and lived in the city for many years.
  8. Request local churches to check their archives for historical items and invite elderly attendees of the weekly musical jam session held in the city multipurpose room.
  9. All information gathered should be e-mailed to Mark and he will compile it on http://www.gotoPacific.org (our historical website), where eventually it will be whittled down for us to present to the City and they can choose what would be reasonable for our kiosks in the parks project.
